"Excellent treatment and staff."

About: Airedale General Hospital

Attended Sat 21st Nov a.m. with my partner Tilly who had fallen and was in considerable pain on her right side and with shortness of breath. We were dealt with promptly by the triage nurse and then taken to a treatment room where everything ran smoothly with heart monitoring, blood tests and X Rays. All the staff were fantastic polite caring and nothing seemed too much trouble. Thankfully it appears to be only pulled muscles and we were sent home with extremely strong painkillers. Two things I would like to comment on that I thought were excellent. The X Ray department which was very close by we were taken to by the team leader and then returned by one of the X Ray staff so much quicker and more efficient than waiting for porters and secondly prior to leaving, the doctor brought the pain killers to us which I believe are dispensed from a what appears to be a prescription vending machine what a brilliant idea no trying to find the pharmacy or waiting in A&E thus taking up a bed. Finally two members of staff that I was very impressed with were the team leader or I think that's the name (an old Sister or matron I guess) and the doctor. They were excellent but to be honest everyone was. Well done to all.

In these days when it is easy to criticise the NHS and many other services I think it's worth making the effort to praise when able and to realise that in the NHS and other services most people do there best all the time under often very difficult circumstances.

Thank you very much Jane Oirschot for your wonderful feedback regarding the care Tilly received by all staff in the Emergency Department at Airedale General Hospital.

It is always gratifying to receive comments of appreciation which, amidst the constant pressures in the NHS, are a real boost to staff morale and I shall copy your comments to those who were involved in Tilly’s care.
