"Sau discharge ridiculous"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

Was taken I. To say after gp phoned gynae to explain I was pregnant dehydrated and committing continuously, I have been suffering from Hyperemesis and had previously been admitted. Iv fluids and anti sickness medication given over two days. So in the morning doctor came round said I could go home they would send my stuff to pharmacy this was 9.30. 12 o'clock came and they wanted the bed asked if I would move to day room which i did. Only to be told my stuff hadn't even been sent to pharmacy to be processed. So I sit in a room no water nothing pregnant and really uncomfortable feeling sick for three hours waiting. For a doctor to come in and ask if I could leave the room as they needed to use it. I refused to move and miracle of miracles the doctor went off to do something about it and the medication appeared within five minutes. The lack of care was exceptional.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments of your recent experience at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

I am so sorry to read that you felt there was a lack of care on the SAU ward, and that you had a particular length of time to wait until your medication was prescribed before being discharged.

I can understand how distressing and worrying this must have been for you especially as you have been suffering with Hyperemesis during your pregnancy. I hope you are now feeling much better.

We are concerned to learn that this was your experience of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s services and hope that you may be happy to speak with us in some more detail about your experience, so that we can understand what happened more clearly; to explore ways in which we can assist and improve our patient experience in the Trust.

If you are happy to share more detail about your specific experience with us, please contact our dedicated Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01296 316042 or email pals@buckshealthcare.nhs.uk

In the meantime, please be assured I will pass your anonymous comments to the relevant manager for the service.
