"Disappointing"

About: Nuffield Health, Brentwood Hospital

I have just returned home from an operation i had yesterday, although it was paid for by the nhs I don't feel this made a difference to my treatment however at my pre-op I did explain that I had changed my mind on having a procedure connected with original agreed op, the nurse emailed the consultant while I was present as it was very important for me that this didn't go ahead, on the afternoon of the operation if I hadn't mention this fact again to the consultant they would have gone ahead with something I did not want as they had no knowledge of the alteration, I also agreed with the consultant that I would have an epidural as they told me this was better for my recovery etc, I was very nervous about the whole operation and unfortunately after several attempts to get the needle into the right place in my bk and also hitting a nerve I become more agitated and the decision was made to put me to sleep, I slept most of that evening but from 10pm although I was given pain killer I was in a bad way, I called the nurse several times through the night and they gave me more pain killer but it obviously wasn't strong enough as it made no difference to the pain , after watching every hour through the night I eventually explained to the nurse that I couldn't tolerate anymore pain and something needed to be done, i see several nurses through the day and asked if I was going to speak to the consultant regarding the op, nobody seamed to have any answers to any of my questions, although I felt slightly better I was relying heavily on the painkillers , when I asked for them , they were never offered I was kept waiting for almost an hour at one point, I was eventually told I could leave and the consultant never showed to let me know how the operation went etc,

I feel that if u want people to fluff around you with menus and ask about cleaning the room all day then the Nuffield is the place for you but for reassurance , information and your general well being maybe not .
