"Fantastic grassroots staff,shame about the..."

About: Pontefract General Infirmary

After having breathing difficulties and chest pain the day previously i phoned 111 who told me to go to A+E which i did in a taxi.

i went to reception who told me to go to the waiting room to wait for the nurse.

I went into the room with the nurse who was very calm and laid back, seemed nice.

they took my blood pressure and sent me on to the examination room to see the doctor.

"Get your coat off the edge of my desk" they said arrogantly with a hint of maliciousness.

"OK, I'm sorry" I said in a calm sensible manner as i prefer to be non confrontational when provoked.

I moved my coat onto the chair next to me thinking here we go again.

They then proceeded to tell me to take my shoes and socks off in a very abrupt way having clearly not seen the large crutches next to me or the show raise of almost 3 inch on my right leg.

i explained that i couldn't put them back on as i'd need a grabber and help to do so, (carer)(i'm girdlestones, no right head of femur & a disintegrated right hip socket).

i cannot walk without crutches but i'm a fighter and battle my way to one legged walking with my upper body."Ok, you can leave them on" they said.

I hooked my left foot under my right and swung myself up onto a table /bed that was almost too high, (they weren't going to lower it).

They checked my chest.

They then proceeded to take my blood in such a way that would've made Shaka Zulu proud, (i think they were going in for a score of 180 to be honest) putting a plastic torniquet on afterwards(obviously in readyness for amputation it was that tight).

My arm left black with bruising, i was then sent via porter,(who was fantastic, friendly and chatty) to x ray.

The radiographer was like a breath of fresh air.

They were apologising for faulty equipment that was clearly not their fault, (take note, suits and jackaboots at

D head office!....this is supposed to be the NHS, not wall street!!!).

I had my chest x ray done on my left leg, (as per usual) and left with sympathy for the staff as i overheard them talking about night closures and being unable to afford an ambulance, (sack the chiefs, not the indians who do their very best).

Shame on you trust head office, I tried to give you ideas and suggestions to save & generate money.

I was then taken back to the interrogation, i mean examination room where Doctor just couldn't quite keep the sarcastic smirk off their face.

I was then given the all clear in a talk down i told you so way.

i eventually got my taxi after the 1st one was sent to pinderfields, i know my upper body is strong but that's asking just a bit too much now isn't it?

After repeatedly ringing Cabfind back on a number obviously diverted to the Sheriff of Nottingham, it costs so much. I was eventually picked up iced over and taken home!!!
