It is fortunate that the dead hand of the CQC has not yet reached Ward 4.
Visiting my mother-in-law for an afternoon I was struck by the personal attention given to the residents by the friendly and caring staff.
In most similar facilities that I've visited the staff spend 85% of their time doing routine work, mostly form-filling whereas here they spend 85% of their time with the residents.
There was an interesting system to their work, in that they moved around between residents and practical tasks at approximately 15 minute intervals - whether this is deliberate I don't know but it works well.
Let's pray that the box-ticking bureaucrats stay away a bit longer.
Once they've been in my rating will no doubt plummet.
