"Spending 2 weeks on ward 405 with my elderly mum"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

My mum was admitted to ward 405 ,very seriously ill.

I stayed on the ward for 3 nights and have been there most of the time for 2 weeks.

I cannot fault the care my mum received there.

The support staff all worked well with the nursing staff, especially the nutritionist who was always available with advice and encouragement, to me as well as my mum .

My mum was unable to voice her needs but the staff were all aware of this and did all they could to make her aware of what was happening at all times.

I would also like to be noted how much support they gave me too. it's a very difficult situation to be in and especially difficult when you are not near your own home. Even though they were busy they took the time to check that I was alright and I am very grateful for that.

On discharge the nurse Liason officer worked closely with me and I felt that I was involved which was a great help in a difficult situation.

Many thanks for your kind comment about the team that cared for both you and your mother, whilst she was admitted to Ward 405 at the Royal Derby Hospital.

I can confirm that your comments have been shared with the team on the ward.

Kind Regards,

The Patient Advice and Liaison Team (PALS)
