"Immedicare"

My wife suffers from Cotico-basel Degeneraton.

Since being placed on the Gold Standard Framework we have received the finest service possible from Doctors, District Nurses, Occupational Therapists and, Since especially, our Palliative Care Nurse.

However, despite all this attention things can still go wrong and earlier this year Muriel experienced what was probably a transient ischaemic attack (TIA) or "mini stroke".

Our on site carers were with us in no time and organised the ambulance service who responded with a Paramedic in next to no time.

He then sent for an ambulance which took us on an uncomfortable journey to our local A & E. at Airedale Hospital.

We were then introduced to an organisation called Immedicare and a technician soon visited us at home to explain how to use a dedicated Tablet to contact the Telehealth Hub.

This is staffed by a highly skilled nurses at our local Hospital, with a consultant on hand if a second opinion is required.

The Tablet itself is easy to use.

We are encouraged to use the Tablet whenever we feel unsure or concerned about Muriel; be it about aches and pain, restlessness, vomiting, etc.etc.

Possession of the Tablet brings peace of mind, although we have not yet had to use it in a desperate situation.

That said, as advised I have tested it from time to time and been impressed with the rapid response.

On other occasions I have telephoned the Hub about non-urgent matters and have received reassuring advice.
