"Very poor care as in patient"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

It has taken me a while to write this review but I hope in doing so that other people do not have to suffer the stress and long term illness that I have.

I was admitted as an emergency with terrible chest pain, feeling very sick and with raised amalyse levels.

I had an X-ray, an ultrasound scan and an MRI as my bile duct was enlarged and I was told the drs thought I had a gall stone.

The pain was awful in the left side of my chest.

I saw the consultant who told me the pain could not be on the left as there was nothing that could give me pain on that side. Oh how wrong they were. I couldn't stop being sick but they did nothing to help.

The lady in the bed next to me looked after me because the nurses couldn't be bothered.

I was so sick the one day that I refused the oral morphine but I was told that I had no choice because it had been taken out of the cupboard I had to have it.

The lady in the bed next to me pressed my buzzer and asked the nurse to care for me but they just turned the buzzer off and walked away.

When they didn't find a gall stone, they gave up and moved me to a gynae ward where they forgot about me.

I asked to see a consultant as I was so poorly and wanted to know what was wrong with me.

Eventually after many times of asking, a dr came to the ward.

Walked up to the lady opposite me and went through all of my symptoms with her.

She couldn't get a word in.

When the consultant stopped I said, I think you are talking to the wrong person, those are my symptoms.

It wouldn't have looked out of place on carry on doctor.

After receiving no care for a week, I decided to discharge myself and pay to see someone.

I had a scan after leaving hospital and not at all to my surprise it showed a lesion in the tail of my pancreas.

It appears that i had a cyst and it collapsed inwards and I was told would have been hemorraging which explains the extreme pain and enlarged bile duct.

Maybe if your doctors listened to patients and believe where the pain was they would look at the organs in those locations.

It was difficult for me to explain everything to the consultant that I paid to see as the discharge letter was a joke.

It said that I was not sick at all and that I did not have an enlarged bile duct.

The diagnosis was abnormal bowel sounds.

The experience was an absolute nightmare.

If it wasn't so serious the complete ineptitude of your staff would have been funny. I still haven't recovered from my illness.

Thank goodness I was able to go to a different hospital.

I really hope that you don't ignore this and improve your level of care so that other people do not have to suffer as I did.
