"Complaint about a particular consultant"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Where to start! Early hours Tues 4th Nov I was admitted to D.R.I. assessment unit with spreading infected cellulitis, even though it was a really busy night the staff were absolutely fantastic, couldn't of wished for more helpful staff.

Later that day a consultant came to see me, checked out my legs and said I could go home as long as I agreed to rest and to take the 12 anti biotic's a day as prescribed, and return to the ward Thurs 6th Nov to make sure the infection was getting better, I agreed to all this so I could go home, I was then discharged.

I returned to the hospital on the Thurs as requested, I waited in the waiting room until the sister of the ward came and asked me to sit in a consultation room ready for the consultant, after a short discussion about my other health problems with the sister the consultant this time a deifferent consultant entered the room, instead of looking at my legs that I was there for, they started their consultation with the words u r over weight, I tried to tell them its not for the amount of food I ate as I had visited a dietician on numerous occasions previously and this is what I was told, the consultant then told me myself and the dietician were disillusioned, that I obviously ate to much and didn't exercised enough. They then changed the subject onto why I was there after only being on anti biotics for 24 hours, I again tried to explain 2 week previous to being admitted to hospital I had been given 2 courses of anti biotics form my G.P. plus the hours I was in hospital I had been put on a drip n anti biotics were fed through, plus in the 2 days I was at home id taken a further 18 anti biotics. their answer to this was, we will do another blood test to see if the infection has got any better.

at this point I told them how upset I was and how disgusted I was with their overall attitude and bedside manor.

this didn't seem to phase them in the slightest.

Not only did i leave the hospital upset and angry, I also felt very let down by a so called professional, my only hope is I never have to be seen by them again.
