"I felt that basic nursing care did not happen"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit

(as the patient),

Was admitted under an emergency and admitted to assessment medical unit. I had to wait two days before I got water beside my bed.

Only one nurse actually did nursing care. All the others were too busy to do anything, including taking me to the toilet or giving me water. I felt that basic nursing care did not happen in my case.

It seemed to me that there are too many people only interested in getting their shift over with ASAP.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave feedback about your recent experience in Assessment Unit, I was so sorry to hear that your experience was not a positive one.

Our staff work hard to ensure that the care and treatment they give to patients is of the highest standard and is person centred, unfortunately we did not met this standard.

I shared your posting with the Sensior Charge Nurse, she then shared your posting with the team and it was discussed at the daily meeting, the staff were very dissappointed to hear of your experience and would like to pass on their apologies.

It is important that we learn from patients experiences good or bad.
