For many years as I can remember I have always had a very bad knee. I had been seen at many different hospitals over the years. And was told nothing could be done. In the end I asked for a second opinion.
I feel lucky that I had done so and was referred to Addenbrookes 2 years ago. Within minutes the consultant I now have knew what the problem was and that I needed knee reconstruction surgery. Which was done on 6th September last year. I am so grateful I know have a consultant that seems to know what he's doing rather than hearing there's nothing that can be done. I see the same consultant on Tuesday 17th November as I had a nasty fall and am scared I have re injured my knee.
My consultant before he discharged me in September 2015 said any more problems get your GP to drop me a line. Thankfully I was needed this month.
I was given the number to ring to speak to someone about getting an appointment as I had been discharged. But when I explained everything I was lucky enough to get an urgent appointment at the fracture clinic.
The care I got on ward D8 after surgery in 2014 as well was amazing the nursing staff were caring and never moaned about anything more so when I was in pain and buzzing every 15 minutes.
"Caring and amazing orthopaedic doctors and nurses."
