"Wonderful staff"

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

My mother was taken to UHCW 10 Nov 2015 with chest pain, by a paramedic who was truly wonderful.

From the moment we arrived at the hospital, at the ambulance triage, right through to Ward 11, I can only say the staff were incredible, their efficiency, care and compassion can not be praised enough. They were so kind to family as well, beyond what I could have expected.

I am so sorry that I can not recall all their names, but thank you to all of you.

In particular the nurse from Cardio Ward 11, who's consideration and compassion went above and beyond.

I see now that when the NHS are 'criticised', it is the bureaucracy and management that the criticism should actually be targeted at, as the only blot on the experience was the 11hrs it took to get her onto a ward, because of bed shortages.

The actual front line staff couldn't apologise enough, and I imagine that they suffer the fallout of such circumstances.

But the fact they keep you updated, and work their socks off to try and assist in anyway possible, is a credit to them.

Thank you for providing feedback on your mother’s and yours experience of Cardiology at University Hospital, Coventry in November 2015.

First of all I’m sorry to hear that your mother experienced a delay in getting to the ward. Unfortunately sometimes patients do experience delays such as this and we are working hard to try a reduce and limit delays.

However, I am delighted to read how all the staff your mother and you encountered were caring and compassionate, compassion is one of our Trust values so it is really nice to get comments like yours. I am also pleased that you found staff considerate and kind to you and your family too.

I have passed on your comments to the Group Manager so they can share your kind words with the team. The paramedic who you wish to thank doesn’t work for UHCW NHS Trust but for West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust so you may wish to contact them directly to thank the paramedic.

The Trust is grateful for all feedback, positive or negative, as it means we can better understand what is important to our patients, and your kind comments will be shared with the relevant staff.

Thank you for leaving your comments on NHS Choices.
