"Lumbar Microdiscectomy"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

I was admitted to N2 ward on Friday 7th August following an MRI scan that morning.

I was called at home by the Consultant Neurosurgeon and told that upon viewing the results of my MRI that had been passed to them by the Radiologist, I had to have a Lumbar Disc removed via Emergency Surgery due to the severity of its prolapse and risk of permanent damage.

I had surgery performed at 4pm on Saturday 8th August.

I left the following day.

I went into the hospital in a wheelchair in chronic pain and walked out of the hospital.

The standard of care was excellent throughout the entire process and I can’t thank N2 ward, and all the team involved enough for caring for me so well and for the success of the surgery.

The team are a credit to the NHS.
