"waiting for an ambulance"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service

(as a relative),

My elderly mother (age 85) has waited on an ambulance since 3. 00pm and has just been picked up (10. 30pm). Her symptoms indicate internal bleeding. While she did not want to call 999, this wait is not acceptable. If the service is that busy to cause a wait of 7 and a half hours, the service is either under resourced or poorly managed.

Dear Eunyj9,

I was very sorry to hear about the delay that you mother had getting to hospital. It must have been dreadfully worrying.

I would like to look at this for you to see what happened so that I can explain to your mother and to you why she had to wait so long - it is unusual for there to be such a delay. Would you please contact me on 0141 810 6101?

I do hope that your mother is recovering well.

Pat
