"ward 43"

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

My mother was admitted to ward 43 on various occasions and on first arriving was greeted by a student nurse who was absolutely amazing.

On admitting my mother they involved her and myself in all aspects of the admission and did not speak about her but actually spoke to her (many others fail to do this). When visiting my mother she would tell me how the student nurse had been to see her to make sure she was ok and they would come to make sure I was aware of what was happening and if not would go and ask and get back to me.

Although most of the staff were lovely I think a few of the healthcare staff could be a bit better with their interpersonal skills as some were quite scathing towards patients especially the elderly ones!

Thank you for providing feedback on your mother's recent admission to Ward 43 at Darlington Memorial Hospital.

I am very pleased to hear that you had a positive experience and that you are happy with the care she received.

The Trust is grateful for all feedback, positive or negative, as it means we can better understand what is important to our patients, and your kind comments will be shared with the Ward Sister to pass onto the staff on your behalf.

I know they will be encouraged by your positive comments and also reflect on the feedback about the attitude of some of the staff.

Thank you for leaving your comments on NHS Choices.
