"Better care at Weston Park, after careless consultant."

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

(as the patient),

I went to Weston Park as I had Lymphoma. The doctor entrusted with my treatment was good. But I would have liked more time for visiting. Also although the nursing staff were generally very kind there was some exceptions, who were very rude and this made me angry.

I would like to thank Dr Evans of Weston park Hospital, I found her kind and extremely loving and concerned about the welfare of her patients. It was impossible to feel neglected while speaking to her face to face. I remain grateful to her.

I had a severe throat infection which totally blocked my nose and nearly blocked my wind pipe. The swelling with pus spread very rapidly on the right side of my mouth and made everything difficult and painful to swallow. There was also a problem of breathlessness which meant disturbance to sleep.

I was referred to a consultant whom I found extremely rude, lacking refinement and manners. Although he recognised my problem as serious he made me wait a week for the second appointment, during which my condition deteriorated rapidly and I reached a new height of anxiety and stress. It was only when I protested against what I felt was the flagrant negligence I was subjected to by his carelessness, that he referred me to Weston Park as an urgent case.

I would like to advise that Consultant to cultivate the kindness, care and patience his patients are entitled to in a civilised world.
