Having been taken to Torbay hospital by ambulance staffed by two very professional and kind people who's care fro me was exemplary, kind caring and most of all very professional making me feel safe in their hands. They took care of my pain and knew exactly how to handle my disability, and condition.
The staff in the the Er were of the same high quality and I was first of all in the the holding ward then transferred to McCullam ladies surgical ward.
It is so clean and open and the staff were great from from the dinner staff to the staff nurses even the cleaners had a kind word. This is not my first time time in hospital but by far the best..
Kind attentive and caring staff over the three days made my stay over three days calm and feeling I was in safe hands.
I am agoraphobic among other things and had not been out of the house in years yet I did not feel anxious or overwhelmed in my stay in mccullam. Thank you to all the the excellent staff who who work so hard in short staffed circumstance.
I do however have two criticisms, poor furniture being provided with a bedside armchair with a big split down the middle, and the lack of communication between doctors and nurses resulting in my meds being help up for 24 hours and after having them brought from home still not allowed to take them as the doctor had not written the order for them.....
The lack of working medical equipment, ie portable blood pressure monitor, large cuff for said machine.
Despite the time taken to enter all info in ambulance computer it seemed apparent it was not able to be downloaded to other depts in the hospital.
Over all it was a positive stay and I cant fault the accommodation or the nursing staff 10 out of 10
"best experience ever"
