The staff at the hospital were great.
The fact that they kept their sense of humour and had a readily available smile to cheer you up was great.
The teamwork was good to see, with everyone getting stuck in and delivering care, even in difficult situations.
I witnessed a patient hurling nasty verbal abuse at the nursing staff, and a staff member going over to him and just talking to him about his concerns and his care.
Their calming tone had the desired effect on him.
The surgeon (and their team) that came around to visit explained things clearly.
They made sure I understood what to expect, and possible complications that might arise and how they would be dealt with.
The information was clear and not full of jargon that I wouldn't understand.
They also had an aura of confidence which made me feel at ease.
The staff in the recovery ward were great, and the fact that they had a great sense of humour was an especially good thing to come around to.
I was lucky that i was the only one in there, so they had time to chat to me.
The Ella Rowcroft ward was probably the best ward that I spent time in.
The staff were very caring and efficient in doing their jobs.
They listened to me regarding my pain medication, and respected the fact that I wanted to keep it to a minimum.
They took the time to offer advice and inform me accurately of what to expect.
The staff nurse took the time to let me have a walk around on the crutches, offering support and advise on overcoming obstacles such as steps.
They and their team are a real credit to the hospital.
The only slightly negative thing was the moving wards nearly every night. Forrest - Ainslie - Elizabeth - Ella Rowcroft.
Although, one of the staff did explain that it was mostly because I didn't require any specialist care, and was just waiting for availability in surgery, which I can absolutely appreciate.
