"Day Surgery Unit"

About: Good Hope Hospital

On the 30th October 2015 I nervously attended the day surgery unit, the new one situated behind Fothergill, at The Good Hope Hospital,

My nervousness was unfounded the longer I was at the unit, from the receptionist to the final operation (for a hernia) the courteousness shown to me was plus a 100%

After my operation and release the after care instructions were clear an concise, I never experienced after op's pain that comes with operations being conducted within the stomach area, and now 7 days later I am back to my old self, the day surgery units staff are that finally tuned both to the patient and staff they operated as one, it has been a long long time such I have experienced such an experience.

Anyone due to go into the day surgery centre (your usually out, discharged, within two hours of the operation being completed and of course subject to there being no complications) should not have any reason to be nervous, believe me where operations are concerned there's no bigger coward than me, whilst being given the oxygen then informed that the anesthetic with a scented smell was being introduced the theatre nurse engaged me in general chit chat, what it was about I have no idea because I became aware of someone waking me up saying that everything was fine.

I was out of the hospital within the two hours specified.

It was truly the best experience that I have ever had of having a operation / treatment at a now under pressure NHS Hospital,

My heartiest Congratulations and thank's to the receptionist, the preparation staff and finally the surgeon, anesthetist and theatre nurse plus the aftercare nurse.

PS. unfortunately "the which department did you visit box" does not list the day case unit, so I have selected "don't know" which is of course untrue.
