"Discahrge procedure from this hopital"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

(as a relative),

My brother was discharged from this hospital without his clothes sent home in a taxi with hospital pyjamas and missing his slow release morphine for his cancer.

I received a phone call in the afternoon from a nurse saying my brother could come home I informed the nurse I could not collect him because I did not have transport so the nurse said I will organize transport I informed the nurse that my brother had a bag with a full set of clean clothes in to put on to come home in. My brother arrived home in hospital pajamas without his clothes.

A some hours later I checked his medication box that he had taken to hospital it was missing his slow release morphine tablets for his advanced liver cancer.

I rang the hospital the nurse said OH I found them in the locked cupboard

(so why didn't I receive a phone call? ? } the nurse said ring back in the morning and we will send the tablets by taxi.

My brother must have this drug every 12hrs to control pain for his cancer I had one tablet left in his tablet box for that night.

I rang back in the morning and a different nurse said Oh well we will send them sometime today? ? ? this is a very important pain control drug.

It seems to me that the hole discharge procedure need looking at especially the checking of patient drugs before discharge? ? ? not good enough
