I visited a mother and child on Ward 6 yesterday. They had gone to the service at St Luke's Chapel on Sunday and had greatly benefited from it. I was a student Physio at the RVI from 1965 - 69 and with staff from other departments set up a Christian Fellowship. I was thrilled to see that this is still operating 40 years on. Imagine my dismay when I learned that the chapel is to be relocated away from the main hospital. I sincerely hope that this will be reconsidered for the sake of all who still find St Luke's a haven of peace.

Thank you for taking the time to place your comments about your recent visit to the RVI.

We do understand how important access to the Chapel is to our patients, visitors and staff. Please be assured that the Chapel will remain open and in the current location. Due to the large amount of building work going on at the RVI at present as part of the Transforming Newcastle Hospitals, there may be some problems for patients accessing the Chapel from other areas of the hospital for a limited time. As such, we are endeavouring to make alternative arrangements for a quiet space for reflection and prayer in another area. We will do all that we can to keep this disruption to a minimum and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
