parent admitted late on sat 24th Oct with suspected dvt following hip surgery.Father placed on a ward for that was not a ward that covered orthapedics and the relevant problems that arise from this surgery went the whole week without being seen by orthapedics or physios still on the ward now - taking up a valuable bed on ribblesdale.
when visited by the orthopedic consultant, he was told he should not have come to this hospital for his treatment - he went there because that is where the ambulance crew said he had to go! no support or interest shown by the consultant at all - very arrogant and dismissive of the needs of the patient.
no complaints about the treatment for the dvt, but the orthopedics support very poor.
the hand cleaner dispensers outside ribblesdale ward were empty on three consectutive days as well - even when it was mentioned in the afternoon to staff, they were still empty at night visiting.
Someone needs to walk round the hospital with people who have been in as patients and have these things pointed out - or is that what the matrons should be doing? very, very upset and disappointed with the whole situation - I now hope there are no complications that develop from this care/ or lack of care. when he is eventually discharged.
