"Falls Prevention Service - Fantastic help received"

My chair lift was fitted last week along with the fantastic rails that you were kind enough to put in place for me and I finally feel that I have my home back.

When you came into my life I already lived in a fully adapted house but my needs had become greater and my equipment was old and broken. That, coupled with numerous falls had stripped away my confidence and I allowed fear and pride to get in the way of reaching out for help.

Your gentle support helped me to realise that I needed more help and I began to feel able to allow people in to assess my needs and put this in place. I would never have thought this possible but you sat with me and helped me find the courage and overcome the enormous anxiety I felt and still often feel.

You were so kind to me and I never once felt my dignity was compromised, you knew what mattered hugely to me and the reason for this is because you really listened and made me feel heard and understood.

You were so professional, never allowing me to develop a dependency, but encouraging me to get to where I needed to be.

I still have massive issues with anxiety and especially around strangers coming into my place but thanks to you both I also now have evidence to remind myself how wonderful some professional and health workers can be.

I do still frequently fall but I try to remember all you have taught me and hope it keeps me a little safer.
