"Dermatology and Waiting Lists"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

So I was referred by Gp to The Children's Hospital Dermatology department who reviewed my case of Hyperhydrosis and then referred me the RHH for treatment as the SCH does not hold the equipment for Iontophoresis.

So I had to first wait 3 Months for an Initial Consultation ; to which I was passed on to the Nurse who deals with the treatment. The nurse took my contact details and other info and wrote them into a big book and said my name was added to the waiting list for treatment.

About 3 1/2 months later I received a call from the nurse; I explained at the start that I would be in college and that the best time to contact Me is after 3pm.

I tried to make further contact with the nurse but every time I rang the department she was conveniently Unavailable so I left messages to say I am available at 3pm to take calls.

Shortly after I received a letter asking me do I really want treatment and if I do I needed to contact the team ; I again made contact but they were not in so I left a message.

I then spoke to my Paediatric Diabetes Consultant who sent a letter asking for me to be seen again; I phones today 26/10/2015 and was told there is over a 3 month wait and apparently I was discharged as I was booked to see the consultant on the 24 of April (I think that's what the person said) however I received no letter.

So now I am left with this problem and it feels as if I am going round the blocks.

The care I Do receive from the consultants on the team is great however the waiting time and system is not as it should be.

I am sorry to hear about the difficulties that you are experiencing with waiting times and appointments. I wondered if you would be able to provide more personal details in order that we could look into this more on your behalf? Please could you contact our Patient Services Team who will be able to take details from you and ask the service to respond to you directly. The team can be contacted on telephone number 0114 271 2400 or by emailing pst@sth.nhs.uk

Kind regards.
