"Being able to have a blether with my carers is so important"

About: Independent Living Services - ILS South & East Ayrshires

(as a service user),

The carers I have at home are very helpful. They come three times a day and it’s a good service.

The carers come in the morning, at lunch time and then for dinner and to get me ready for bed. Normally they come between 12. 30 and 1 for lunch and then they are not back until 7pm. It’s a long time to wait between visits. I’m thinking of asking for them to come at 6pm for dinner and then to come back at 8. 30 to get ready for bed. I think they would do that for me.

I have 3 girls who are great and would do anything for me. Some of the others are in and away; they don’t have a lot of time, they are always busy. Some of the girls don’t talk to me when they come unless I ask them something – when you’re on your own being able to have a blether is so important.
