"Horrible time!"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

Had my baby on labor ward in Sept 14. Awful. I was in very painful Labour all night, much worse than my first as this baby was back to back. At about 10am a doctor came in to examine me. Told me I "wasnt in Labour, you just think you are as you've had a baby before"

Prior to that I was told my a few people that I was 6cm. The doctor said I was 2cm. The doctor then sent my mother home as I "wasn't in Labour " well my son was born 20 minutes later and my mum missed the birth thanks to that doctor.

Other staff on Labour ward seemed lovely.

Was then transferred to Folkestone ward where it got worse. I had lost alot of blood during the birth and felt incredibly unwell. I had to ask 8 times before I was finally brought some water. And 3 more times just for some paracetamol!

The ward felt incredibly cramped and we had no room to move. The visiting times where not being listened to and a family in the bed opposite had her entire family there until gone 9pm. With children running round.

The ward was incredibly hot. And I would have been better off at home.

Tried to discharge ourselves but was told my son needed an abdominal scan before he left as he has situs invertus.

He has only just had that scan last month.

After a year of pushing.

Such a disappointing experience.

Poor staff run off there feet.

That doctor needs to re do their training.

I am so sorry to learn about your experience -absolutely not what we would want for our mothers.

Please will you contact PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) so that we can get more details so that we can investigate what happened.

Please ring them on 01227 783145 or 01227 864314, email ekh-tr.PALS@nhs.net or by completing a complaint form via our website.

I hope that you and your dear son are both thriving despite this set-back - best wishes to your both and all the rest of the family.
