I had this procedure recently at Wycombe hospital and was quite overwhelmed by the quality of care shown to me by all members of staff from admission to discharge.
Previous bad experiences with general anaesthetic had left me feeling very anxious about the surgery and any associated risks but from the minute I arrived I felt that I was in safe hands.
I had discussed my worries with my consultant prior to admission and as promised they had scheduled me for the first surgery of the day. I was visited by my surgeon, a member of the team and the anaesthetist within half an hour of being admitted and they all reassured me, answered my questions, gave me time and made me feel completely relaxed and confident about what was to happen. My anaesthetist in particular was extremely kind, patient and highly professional which made me feel safe despite concerns from previous surgery.
Staff in the recovery area were outstanding as were all the nursing staff who looked after me once I was back on the ward. This experience was way over and above any I have had in private health care in the past and I just cannot praise all these people enough for their highly professional care with the "human" touch. Thank you so much for turning something I was so frightened of into a positive experience!
