"Nursing staff were great, very ..."

About: University Hospital Of North Tees

(as a relative),

What I liked

Nursing staff were great, very helpful, compassionate and friendly.

What could be improved

Doctors were arrogant, and did not communicate anything regarding my babies illness until I backed them into a corner. Two weeks after he was born there he was on deaths door with MRSA and Strep B. Although they were aware of what he was suffering from from day 2, it took me until day 6 to force the information out of them. No decisions have been consistant regarding his care, they have ignored requests for copies of my sons records and test results.

Anything else?

MRSA is a risk at this hospital, one they are ill prepared to support in aftercare.

We're pleased that you found our nurses helpful, compassionate and friendly. However we're very sorry you feel you were let down by the attitude of our medical staff. Without knowing the details it is difficult to explain why your concerns about your baby were not addressed. We're very keen to have the opportunity to find out exactly what happened and why so we can answer your questions. Please contact our patient advice and liaison service at PALS.NT@nth.nhs.uk or by phoning 0800 092 0084. We appreciate this has been a stressful time and we want to resolve this with you. Thank you for leaving your comments on NHS Choices.
