"The midwives, health care assistants ..."

About: University Hospital Of North Tees

(as the patient),

What I liked

The midwives, health care assistants and orderlies on ward 22 (maternity) were outstanding! Those ladies couldnt do enough to make sure everyone on the ward was comfortable and kept in the know. It felt like being cared for by new friends and they made a lasting impression on me.

What could be improved

The curtains between the beds on the ward. A lot of them didnt meet each other, leaving some ladies a bit exposed - which is frustrating being a new mam and trying to breastfeed for the first time. The staff did there best to improve the situation by moving things around, but it was no fault of theres.

Anything else?

Thank you so much for making the birth of my daughter such a happy experience (even if being induced took 3 days!). I would whole heartedly recommend North Tees for delivery, although I dont think I'll be back anytime soon - one baby is definately enough for now.

Dear Melissa

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. We’re delighted that you had such a good experience in Ward 22. We will certainly pass your very kind comments on to the staff who work very hard to make every mother’s experience a special one. We’re sorry about the curtains round the bed not meeting and we’re also sorry this meant things were less private than they should have been. We are looking to see what we can do to improve the situation.

Thank you once again for taking the trouble to leave a comment on NHS Choices
