"Podiatry Care"

About: NHS Oldham CCG

(as the patient),

I have been tyoe 1 Diabetic now for over 46 years, and its only the last 2 years or so I have found a need to use the podiatry service provided by Oldham CCCG. The last time I had an appointment was in July, when I called the appts team on Monday I was given an appt for December, thats 5 months between appts. This is no good whatsoever. When I had to wait until July last for an appt I had to try myself and finished up with 2 bleeding toes. As anyone who knows about Diabetes will know this is dangerous. Having made several phone calls myself I have by hook and by crook managed to get an appt for this week. However most people who phone up for an appt will make do with what they are given im sure. 3 months wait is bad enough, but a 4 month is just not on. Its false econmy, and when Diabetics have problems it will involve more and more visits for care, when seeing a podiatrist on at Least a 3 months basis will prevent any problems. I have been told by the podiatrist that its now policy to make eveyone wait at least 4 months. This is just bit acceptable.
