"The service given by the nhs in Inverclyde is amazing"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Accident & Emergency Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I tripped over a slipper and it resulted in a broken hip. From the first contact with the ambulance service in August 2015 to my release I was amazed and so grateful of the amazing care received by all nhs staff, from the ambulance crew and including every member of staff from porters to nursing staff, domestic help, X-ray department, consultant Mr Buchan), the acute coronary care team, physiotherapists. The list is endless.

I suffered a pulmonary embolism after initial surgery and this was followed by isolation as I had no control over my bowels and bladder and was in severe pain. The service given by the nhs in Inverclyde is amazing. I have no complaints whatsoever and hope all staff involved with my care and after my release are given the praise they deserve. I am extremely grateful and though still recovering from it all, I would like all of them to congratulated on the much appreciated work that they all do.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear G8,

What a difficult time you have been through, I can't imagine how worrying all of this would have been which makes it even more amazing that you have taken this time to write to us with such high praise of the staff who looked after you. It really speaks highly of the staff that you felt you wanted to give them this feedback, despite still being in recovery.

I have sent your feedback onto the Chief Nurse for Clyde and the Manager for the service you were in so that they can pass on your thanks to their teams and let them know what a difference they made to you at the most difficult of times. That every member of staff pulled together to ensure a consistently high standard of care is a fantastic example to many that will be shared.

Thank you again for getting in touch and I wish you well with your continued recovery.

Best Wishes,

Lorna
