"A positive experience all round"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

I had a complete knee-replacement operation at The Royal Derby. This involved a surgical and pre-med team, the x-ray department and staff on the ward. All staff worked in well-practiced teams, applying excellent treatment and care whilst communicating with each other and with me.

Everywhere that I was taken to during my three night stay was exceptionally clean and, on the ward, I witnessed curtains being checked and ledges dusted in addition to the obvious eye-level cleanliness. The food menu provided good choices and the the freshly-cooked meals were all very appetising.

Medical needs were obviously a priority to me as a patient but the skill and attention of all staff, both medical and non-medical, when fulfilling their tasks, was enhanced by their apparent pleasure and pride in their workplace.

I am grateful for such a positive experience.
