"My mother was admitted on Wed ..."

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My mother was admitted on Wed 13th May and was very well looked after in an isolation ward.

What could be improved

A doctor available at visiting times for family to ask questions - the nurses dont always have the information you require.

Anything else?

My mother was discharged on Friday 22nd May - rather abruptly - it was a bank holiday and I felt she was being ushered out earlier than necessary. She was visited by Physio Dept and Ocupational Therapy, whilst on the ward. No-one from either Dept have visited my mother in her home, to see if she can manage the stairs, cook for herself, or manage to get in and out of her bath for showering purposes. She has received a phone call on 2nd June from physio dept for them to do a home visit to see if she can manage the stairs and bathe herself!!! I think it is a BIT TOO LATE she has been home for 11 days now.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your comments, we are pleased to hear that while your mother was in hospital she received the care and treatment to meet with your expectations. However, we are sorry to hear that you have been left disappointed by the service provided once your mother had been discharged and was back at home. We will pass on your feedback to the department but please contact the hospital's Patient Advice and Liaison Service (01325 743887) if you would like to discuss this further.
