"A&E Department"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Arrived at Darent A& E at approx 0200 on friday october 2 nd with my wife in pain at neck/shoulder/right arm.

We were going to be 5th in line waiting to be seen.

Eventually called in and placed in cubicle 4 at approx 0530 no one came to see us. Some time after 0600 hrs we heard my wifes name being called we opened the curtain attracted a doctor..they looked at my wife ,didnt examen my wife just said it was a muscle spasm they then showed my wife how to do breathing exercises and prescribed some codeine tablets for the pain and sent us home at approx 0645 hrs.

After a very painful weekend got my wife an appointment with doctors he sent my wife for blood tests and exray .verdict bloods o.k. but trapped nerve in upper part of spine in the neck.now being treated.

Would never recommend Darent A & E ,5 very painful hrs to be fobbed off with a stupid verdict not even exrayed.first.

Dear Roger

We were sorry to read of your wife's experience in our A&E Department and of how uncomfortable her weekend was.

Please would you be kind enough to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALs) on 01322 428383 or email pals@dvh.nhs.uk in order that we can look into the concerns you have raised.

Thank you.
