Me and my husband came to the QE WHC for a routine 20 weeks scan. A locum sonagrapher performed the scan, they were amazing and cannot thank them enough! Basically they noticed I had a short cervix which is something they don't usually check for in a 20 week scan (unless there is a past history of issues or maybe high risk which I wasn't). Thankfully they did check this and this was picked up. I was referred to a consultant. The person who referred me pushed to get me an appointment with the consultant the same day, as the consultnat was due to go on holiday the following week.
The consultant reconfirmed the short cervix and booked me into theatre the very next morning , they were fantastic! Such a knowledgable person with great people skills and is a credit to the QE! The next morning I was looked after by an amazing midwife in the delivery suite , they were at my side all day and is amazing at their job! They made us feel like the most important people in the building , although I know they had lots of other patients to look after. The consultant and the team explained everything to me before the operation (cervical stitch) and really reassured me I was in safe hands. The anesthetists were brilliant, I was so nervous and they really calmed me down! Unfortunately the spinal only worked partlly on one side so I could feel the procedure when it started.
I was in a lot of pain but they stopped immediately and they gave me more pain killers through my drip and really calmed me down! The procedure was a success and I was so well looked after by the staff including the midwife again ! All in all, the past 48 hours or more have been an emotional roller coaster made easier by some outstanding team members of the QE and we can't thank them enough! Thank you1
"Amazing sonographer/anesthetist and Midwifes......"
