"Parking eye"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

On the 16th October 2015. I visited North Tyneside general hospital with my 10 year old daughter who had unfortunately broken her foot, as you can imagine she was very distressed and in a lot of pain, I drove her straight to the hospital with my other 2 young children in tow and left the house without my purse or phone, I only realised when I got there that I had no money on me for the parking machine and mentioned this to the staff, I was assured that I could just ring up the following day and pay for an hours parking that way, as I was leaving the car park I noticed a camera pointing at the number plates of cars could you please tell me how or who I need to contact to pay for our parking as I would hate to be left with a large parking fine for something that was a total mistake at a stressful time. Thank you.

Dear Ollypoppa

First of all we hope that your daughter is now a lot more comfortable after receiving care at North Tyneside General Hospital.

We are aware that there will be instances such as yours where patients and visitors are unable to pay for parking straight away and have systems to enable us to deal with this.

Please don’t worry, you will not receive a fine. However it would be helpful if you could please give us a call on 0191 2031653.

Kind regards

Dear Ollypoppa

It seems as though our immediate response to your comment has not come across from Patient Opinion to NHS Choices. We have raised this with both organisations, but please see our original response below:
