"Very little. The place was dirty, ..."

About: Bishop Auckland Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Very little. The place was dirty, badly lit, poorly staffed, I had to wait ages in A&E to be seen and the doctor who treated me couldn't wait to get me out the door!! Close this hospital, it's not needed - I will always go to UHND in preference - ALWAYS!!

What could be improved

Every. Single. Thing.

Anything else?

There is no need for this hospital, it hardly provides any service at all except out-of-hours clinic. Shut it down and move all services do Durham, where I can get decent, timely, polite and CLEAN health care services that I need!!

I am extremely distressed to hear that you have had such a negative experience at Bishop Auckland Hospital. I would like to ask you to write to the hospital's complaints department so that we can discuss in more detail the areas you felt let down by and hopefully resolve these and offer you some reassurance. You can find the details for the Trust's complaints manager on our website www.cddft.nhs.uk

I would also like to take this opportunity to assure you that Bishop Auckland has a vital role in the health services that the Trust's provides for our local communities, it is a centre for planned care for the whole of County Durham and Darlington and includes a specialist rehabilitation centre, a lot of planned surgery is carried out there including day surgery, hip and knee replacements and other operations, there is a new eye unit – delivering a full range of ophthalmology outpatient services including cataract surgery, a midwifery led unit and a full range of outpatient and diagnostics for local patients.
