"We felt like an inconvenience"

About: Liskeard Community Hospital

Took my wife to the Minor Injuries on a Saturday Night when her leg (which has had a metal rod in it after an accident 15 years ago) swelled up and became very painful after a walk earlier in the day.

We were seen immediately by a nurse (good) who seemed to feel that we were a massive inconvenience (not so good), she couldn't find my wife on the system and seemed to assume she was not existing on purpose to be spiteful all while telling us that there was probably nothing they could do anyway.

After the nurse had typed in all of the information she prodded my wife's leg a bit before declaring again that there was nothing they could really do unless we wanted to go to Derriford... the sentence, I presume, was left hanging in the air as a suggestion to get rid of us.

Eventually we gave up hope of getting any advice, as she just kept saying there was nothing she could do, and my wife was given some painkillers and packed off home.

Thankfully her sister is a nurse at York Hospital and after a quick phonecall suggested several things that might be wrong and that it might have become infected and we should see a Doctor asap.

After seeing the Doctor at Oaktree he is organized an emergency blood test and scan to see what is going on and wondered why Liskeard Hospital had not organized it as they have the facilities.

So Liskeard Hospital... not very impressed, but Oaktree Surgery and York Hospital keep up the good work.
