"I was told I was no longer the hospitals responbility"

I have M. S. I am in a wheelchair, much of the time.

I had knee surgery in February this year, after a long wait!

This meant my walking overall was detiariating.

When I arrived for surgery, after a very helpful pre assessment, they didn't want my Wheelchair left on the ward! My husband was asked to take it back to the car in pouring rain. Therefore it would have been very wet to pick me up in!

After finally agreeing to store it, & use the hospital wheelchair if I needed anything,

when I asked to go to the toilet, I was asked couldn't I walk that far! My situation was over my notes & I had verbally explained. They couldn't find a wheelchair, so had to get mine! When it was time to go to theatre, they wanted me to walk again! Eventually saying get on the bed & we will push you! This took me a while to get on a high bed, so they apologised to the waiting staff for being so long! ! ?

From the beginning I had asked to see a physio, as I was concerned how I would get walking after. As I was one of the last patients in surgery, no physio when I came out of theatre. I was made to feel I was being difficult asking! I Asked to go to the toilet again, same process, can't you walk! Etc....

I did have explained brief aftercare before my husband arrived to pick me up. With anaesthetic + m. s. I was unable to take it in.. Next morning my bandage had slipped off the wound, I was told I was no longer the hospitals responsibility! !

Not at all happy with the experience. My G. P. Had to refer me for physio later, so took ages to start. This has held up my getting walking again.

Very poor experience.
