About: Lincoln County Hospital

I have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer and now found that it has progressed to my brain. I am at the moment mentally strong and believe with positive attitude we can beat this or at least extend the inevitable. Last Thursday (08/10/15) I saw the doctor and they said that my radio therapy would start this week. Having not heard anything this morning (12/1/15) I contacted the radio therapy department and was told in no uncertain terms that the doctor had not got the authority to tell me when my treatment would start. Please some one tell me that it is not just pot luck when treatment starts, or a first come first serve basis surely it is a severity rating. As I understand I'm family well down the road and need urgent intervention as the term palliative was used. Also being self employed I postponed all my work for this week and if I don't work I don't get paid, also people have booked time off work to transport me to and from these alleged appointments.

If anyone with authority receives this review please reply to it on the email below

Dear Richard,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story.

To say that I am appalled by the way you have been dealt with and I am so thankful that you have brought this to my attention.

I would very much like the opportunity to discuss your on-going care and treatment with you, and to be able to apologise to you personally.

You have asked in your post that we contact you via e-mail. Although you give your e-mail address when you leave a post on the website, that e-mail address is not visible to us. Therefore, I would be grateful if you would either telephone me directly on 01522 572234, apologies I do not have voice mail on this number and so if you are unable to contact me please e-mail me at angela.turbin@ulh.nhs.uk, in order that we may ensure you receive the standard of care you expect, and we should be providing.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Angela Turbin - Operational Lead for Radiotherapy
