"The A&E staff were thorough ..."

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

What I liked

The A&E staff were thorough and efficient.

What could be improved

The visiting times are really restricted 2-4 and 7-8 daily. In the near by North Staffordshire Hospitals Trust visiting is differnt depending on the unit but, is largley 2-10pm.

The person that I attended the hopsital with was not informed that they were being admitted until they had been transferred to the Medical Assessment Unit, it would have been better to have been briefed on the test results and told that they had to stay in before they left A&E.

Many thanks for your comments around your A&E experience. Once admitted, visiting times are restricted in order to ensure patient recovery time and rest are maximised. This also ensures that medical staff are able to undertake their roles with maximum care to patients and minimum distruption from activity on the wards. We will pass your comments on to A&E with reference to communication on admissions.
