"I liked the way the staff seemed ..."

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I liked the way the staff seemed attentive on my first visist. They looked at my knee and drained it. They told me to return to clinic in 2 weeks when hopefully swelling would have gone down, then they may wish to do an MRI to determine what was wrong.

What could be improved

I went back to the clinic 2 weeks later with my appointment card only to be told they had not put it on there system so i would have to wait in the A&E queue to whihc i refused had already been waiting an hour. The staff did not keep me informed i had to keep asking. They eventually put me in clinic and I was seen by a different doctor. He was rude blunt and didn't seem to care. He took one look at me knee and said oh its just soft tissue damage absolutely nothing serious. He prescribed me painkillers and sent me for some physio. When i arrived at Physio in Knutsford they would not deal with it as theyu believed it to be more serious. Eventually i went to Merseyside and cheshire NHS in runcorn for an MRI as i refused to go back to Macclesfield. Here i was imformed i had a torn ACL !!

Anything else?

I have just had my knee reconstruction done and had it nmot been for the doctor at Macclesfield i would have had it sorted a lot quicker. I had also damged my cartilage as a result of it taking so long. Macclesfield wasted my time and put me through unecessary stress. Bad diagnosis. Never again !!!
