"What an amazing service"

About: Brand Street Resource Centre

(as the patient),

Having suffered from depression for a long number of years, anxiety and bouts of feeling suicidal kicked in, I have been attending Brand Street for a number of years on and off.

My latest situation, I saw no light at the end of the tunnel, I lost all my confidence, trust, and became so paranoid that I found going out a very scary chore. Luckily, I have a very supportive partner and family who checked on me and encouraged me daily.

There were some things I felt I couldn't discuss with my loved ones, and other issues were happening which kept knocking me back the way, so I saw a Psychologist at Brand Street regularly, who believed I would get better one day... Something I just couldn't see myself, if it wasn't for her continuous support and hard work I would have gave up.

She also introduced me to a CPN at Brand Street, who worked along with me on the " going out " situation, of which I still struggle with in certain situations, they both work together in getting me better, something that I am so grateful for... After a long haul, I am finally feeling that I am getting my life back, I would say that anyone who may be feeling the way I was, you do need to push yourself a little, talk to someone, and make sure you attend your appointments, as continuity is the only answer...

Not sure if I should be mentioning names here, however I am going to, as both these professionals had more faith in me, than I ever had in myself! ! ! I can write this because... Dr Burns and Ms MacDonald have helped turn my life around, my partner & family are getting the real me back.

What an amazing service, keep up the good work, too many people are losing their lives, because they have no one to talk to! Thank You.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

This was such a lovely heartwarming story to read - I am so pleased to hear that you feel that your life has really changed as a result of the support given to you by Dr Burns and Ms Macdonald. I also hope that others who may be struggling with a difficult point in their lives can take some hope from your comments and find that strength to turn things around as you have.

I will ensure your comments are passed to the service, and in particular the two members of staff you have mentioned, who I'm sure will be really pleased that you have been in touch to let them know the difference they have made.

Thank you again and wishing you and your family all the best for the future.

Lorna
