FGH has much of which to be proud. In recent months I have watched staff move around the building with a certain pride and a sense of purpose.
I have overheard nurses be at real pains to explain difficult issues to patients-and with understandable clarity.
The hospital is clean and gives every appearance of being a thoroughly professional organisation.
I have encountered many staff in several departments and found , with out minor exception to be caring , helpful and professional. When it is more appropriate apologies are also made.
The menus are well thought out, the food well presented and the soup could grace any table in the world.
The department for Oncology is exceptional in every way..
Same sex accommodation is a too complex issue to judge in a tick box.
I also realise that I have given high ratings when I rarely do so. But your provision is so vey good.
I would offer just one area which lets you down but which I realise is hard in an organisation such as yours to rectify. It is appointments. There is just not enough attention to detail or cross referencing. Too many errors arise because of this and whether it is through carelessness, not enough attention to detail or a poor system needs to be determined and improved.
I have visited many departments mainly Oncology but several others between March 2014 and
October 2015.
"A fine hospital"
