"My disappointing care"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Care of older people Crosshouse Hospital / Stroke Care

(as the patient),

I was left covered in my own sickness for over 30 minutes. General care from nurses was very poor and they blamed this on being understaffed. I was left for long periods of time without pain medication. The nurses blamed it on the fact that I needed a controlled drug so two members of nursing staff had to be available. They had no sympathy for me or my condition i feel and continually told me it was not their fault as there was not enough staff. They spoke to me in an unacceptable manner on several occasions in front of other patients. Another patient had buzzed for their assistance on several occasions due to there concerns over my health and we're reprimanded for doing so!

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Busby,

I am so sorry you have not had the experience of care that we aspire to. I would like to encourage you to contact me so we can look into these serious issues. I would need some details from you to do so. I also wonder if you would like to meet with a senior manager to discuss your experiences. I can be contacted on 01563 - 826222 or by email on eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk

Thank you for highlighting this to us, it gives us a chance to look at it carefully and see what can be done to prevent it happening again.

Kind regards,

Eunice
