"Efficient, clean and welcoming hospital"

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

I visited the hospital for my pre admission appointment last week. I was seen on time by the consultant and then given written instructions on how to find the ward for the next appointment (the hospital is a maze and there's no way I would have found the ward otherwise!).

The pre admission was completed by a very nice senior nurse who did not make me feel at all silly by my inability to look at needles when having a blood test!

The whole process took less than an hour. I chose to have my treatment at Addenbrookes because of the specialists available and I am glad I did. My only criticism is that you don't make it obvious that there are special parking rates for those with outpatients appointments or for in patients. I ended up paying over £7 when I did not need to. My Mum also paid over £7 as she came to the appointment with me to look after my daughter. I only found this out when trying to find details about the addenbrookes bus from the park and ride on your website. Perhaps it would be a good idea to place this information on the admissions letters and outpatients letters so that everyone is aware that there is a much cheaper option for parking at the hospital? Had I known it would have saved us over £10.

Thank you for providing feedback on your recent visit to the hospital.

I am pleased to learn that your appointment went well.

With respect to parking charges, there is information posted around the car parks about the reduced car parking rates available.

There is also a small section in appointment letters indicating that reduced rates are available, but I am sorry if this was not evident in your letter. Please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01223 216756 or email pals@addenbrookes.nhs.uk if you would like any further information about parking charges and discounts.
