"A&E management & staff needs to be reviewed..."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

On arrival by ambulance the paramedics checked my dad in etc.. He was put in a cubical and we waited to be seen.

Nurses carried out their observations. My dad elderly disabled man. Unable to stand unaided was being told by a young doctor (not nurse) to stand and urinate in a urinal bottle. My dad was unable to do this, so he had a accident, much to the inconvenience of the doctor who some how seemed put out by it. I tried to inform the manager of the department, who was hostile towards me so I was unable to tell the manager about my concerns. The manager also told me the nurses did not read the notes from the paramedics....really?!!! If they had they would've known my dad's history. Also when manovering the bed they asked my dad to mind his feet. My dad can't bend his legs!

The Porter did show up to take dad to stay, but collected him to take him back, and when the Porter was about to take dad up the Porter nearly ripped the drip off the wall which was attached. Dad was put on a ward with all females. Also when I asked was the antibiotics given because of an infection, I was told probably!

In my opinion the staff are over worked and the doctor who assessment dad needs to retrain in care! I will not have my father loss his dignity by staff who don't carry out correct communication with the paramedics who brought him in.

I am absolutely appalled with a & e...

And I'm extremely upset for the staff that do work well!

Management can't cope. Loss of communication all round
