My son was referred to the out of hours doctors at WS by NHS111.
He arrived in good time and parked his car, expecting to wait for a few hours.
He was seen by the doctor and was sent for an assessment as to his required treatment.
They told him he needed treatment immediately, however they were very busy and he needed to wait.
They did a minor procedure without pain killer and he was given antibiotics and sent home.
He was there for nearly nine hours.
Why is it that patients who have to wait so long and then have treatment do not get a bit of help over parking charges.
Other hospitals offer reduced parking for patients who have appointments in clinics with proof ie letters or appointment cards.
The attendant was very annoyed when my son explained that he did not have enough money to cover the fee and was very rude about patients doing this all the time.
Surely if someone has had a procedure or a clinic appointment ( which do overrun ) that you don't offer some help !
I realise blue badge and cancer patients get help which is very helpful. What about the others who through no fault of their own get stuck in the system, waiting for a diagnosis or tests etc can't get parking for a set fee.
