"Fertility Treatment"

About: Priory Hospital

Both my partner and I first visited this hospital in October 2014 after a referral from our consultant to begin Ivf treatment.

Our first impressions were not great and we were worried about commencing our 1st round of IVF treatment (nhs funded) here as the fertility ward seemed highly disorganised but seemed nice enough. We tried to ask before hand if we could go to a different nhs hospital to begin treatment. But were wrongly told this was the only hospital we could go to given the area we live in.

Our first cycle failed and we then started treatment again in February this year during this time I felt we were "just nhs patients" and the level of treatment and care for our situation were not by any means suitable, we felt the nurses had no compassion and one of them was quite argumentative one time which added to a horrendously stressful day. It's like they don't understand what you're going through and show no empathy.

The nurse and receptionists seemed as if there was a rift between them which made things quite uncomfortable for us.

On one of our egg transfer, the surgeon was late and nobody thought to come and mention this to us even though my fiancee had been sitting with a full bladder for some time.

Every time we called up the fertility reception they seemed quite rude and no one ever got back in touch.

We had no follow up appointments made and were even told the wrong time to do the trigger shot!

I had to phone up four times to get them to post us an application form to retrieve our records even though we were told each time it had been posted.

There are just too many examples of lack of support and care to keep going on here and I don't want this to seem like a rant as I think it will lose its point. I would just hate for anybody else to go through what we did at the hands of a few people at the fertility suite at the Priory.

Don't get me wrong there were some nice nurses at the Priory and we had a really good consultant but we will most certainly not be returning.

I would of written this review whatever the outcome of our treatment so please don't think that has influenced this review.

We are really sorry to read your comments. We'd very much like to discuss your experiences further as we would really like to see where we can improve. Would you be so kind as to contact Elizabeth Clayton on 0121 446 1601, so we can arrange a time to discuss this further?

Kind regards.
