"Thanks and appreciation for crawley hospital staff"

About: Crawley Hospital / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

First I would like to thank the lovely Helen from PALS, her help and support over the last few days have been outstanding.

I spent a very painful, tearful and distressing day at crawley hospital yesterday as the patient. I would like to say what an excellent consultant Dr Makadsi is with a lovely bedside manner, he was not phased when a few choice words that slipped out during a painful examination. The HCA was a lovely kind lady and was as gentle as possible taking my blood pressure while I was in extreme pain. The pharmacist when I collected my prescription was under immense pressure trying to sort out 6 for prescriptions for people waiting as well as dealing with unhappy patients.

As I sat patiently waiting for my prescription I witnessed how she remained professional and calmly dealt with each problem in a 30 minute time span before they closed for lunch. I could hear her checking with the dispensers and dealing with all the problems and not once did she raise her voice. Well done and I hope they give you more staff.

Again the blood tests was very busy over 25 people queuing before me and the young man that took my blood was kind, courteous & helpful. His phlebotomist skills were excellent and the procedure was painless.

Finally the X-ray department, the radiographer who performed my many painful x-rays was so kind, she explained every step of the way and assisted me with undressing and dressing as I had limited use of my hands through pain and swelling. she assisted me into positions for x-rays and is a credit to the NHS. so I couldn't let my appreciation and thanks go unheard as the staff do a wonderful job in sometimes high pressured circumstances and I have nothing but praise for each and everyone of them. Thank you all.

Dear Kei

Thank you for your very kind words about the pharmacist at Crawley Hospital. I will pass on your comments and I know that she will greatly appreciate them. We're always trying to get the balance of staffing across of our locations right and sometimes this puts individuals under pressure. It is reassuring when our patients recognise that pressure and appreciate the efforts of the team.

Kind regards
